I had knee surgery Friday (meniscus). All went well. Will be running within a few weeks.
The focus now is on healing so trying to be good and taking it easy.
Produce is on in a great way. Zucchini, eggplant, beans, lettuce, leeks, onions, beets and a few tomatoes. Basil and chives are prolific as are most other herbs. Currants, gooseberries and blackberries are mostly done. I love this time of year when we never need to buy any fresh vegetables.

ReplyDeleteI've been through surgery at least twice in my life (once, for a painful infection when I was a teenager; years earlier, because one of my broken bones didn't mend properly), so I can imagine how painful and restrictive the recovery process could be. But you always persevere if your spirit is strong enough.
As for the zucchini and eggplant, I know a few tasty and low-calorie bread recipes for the former, an awesome if messy pizza recipe using the latter. (Thanks, Weight Watchers!) And, don't get me started with basil - it smells awesome and adds so much taste without all the fat and calories.
(And, just the other day, my little 2 1/2-year-old niece Milla said that she wants to be a nurse when she grows up. It's not too early to plan careers - it gives kids a blueprint on what to do with the rest of their lives, and they could change their plans at any time. It also results in some good, creative and educational use of playtime.)
